What started as a podcast has slowly grown into an inspiring brand worn by athletes from the NFL, MLB, pro surfers, and paralympic athletes. Chris Cook came to me 6 years ago in need of practicum hours for his communications degree. After interning under me for a year and graduating college, he went on to play two seasons for the Lakers.
When an injury put him out of the game for good, he called me up and wanted to start something— anything—that could inspire people to pursue their dreams. So he started BeGreat, a podcast that invited pro athletes to talk about their hard-earned journeys to greatness in order to inspire regular Joes to just go for it.
I wanted to capture passion, energy, and brash ambition in the logotype that has since made its way onto apparel worn by athletes around the world in order to encourage everyone they meet to Be Great.
